Operations in brief

"Insamling - Zambias Barn" - Children of Zambia is a relief organization established in 2005. The registered office is in Alingsås and consists of a total of ten people. Everyone works on a voluntary basis and interact so that children in Zambia will get a safer upbringing and care. Getting started

  • If interested, contact us, eg via the contact form, email or telephone.
  • You will then be contacted by our manager.
  • Want to support us with a small amount each month, or do you want to donate a lump sum amount? You choose, all are equally welcome!

The School

Shina Private School, our school in Kanyenda is named after the small town Kinna, just south of Borås in Sweden. The school was built after the first funds was received by "World Children's Fund", a swedish fundraising event in 2006. The first portion of the building was beeing built. The next part was built after a donation from a Alingsås couple and was completed in 2008. We currently have four classrooms with secondary space and a living part for teachers.

Sponsorship

Zambia is seriously affected by HIV/AIDS. This has led to the many orphaned children. In the beginning, our care domain Ibenga, Kanyenda and Mpongwe, but in order to give children a better quality scope is now only Kanyenda. We currently support about 320 children most of whom also attend our school.

A dusty road in Kanyenda - Ingela Stenmark

When I close my eyes and daydream a little, I'm not at those swaying palm trees on the sandy beaches of the Caribbean and all chattering animals in the jungles of Equador ... Actually not.

I think of a solstänkt dusty little road between swaying cornfield. One and another beautiful flower is at the edge, and now and then you hear chirping birds and butterflies flutter by. The road is quite narrow and crooked, but my heart is stuck there, at this road.

The road is adjacent to the 'Children of Zambia' volontary house in Kanyenda.

One early morning, I went there, the roosters crowed for full and the women swept their huts and courtyard in front of them. They looked big on me but nodded when I called out my Good morning! Everywhere smiling faces and friendly glances. The huts are not big and not remarkable, but it is perfectly possible to live there. The requirement are not like ours, and for the world, the weather is not the same .....

I went the same way with my beloved little guy sponsor Misheck. We talked so trusting and nice to each other. I felt the sun warm us, lent my sunglasses to him. Misheck liked being a model. We wandered along the corn, we pointed to the butterflies that fluttered past. A bird chirped nicely in a bush. The road's bumpy and narrow, but it means so much love for me. The walks there with little Misheck have been gatherings which I pick up and then, when the rain and the ordinary life is about to take off some joy inside.

Then my thoughts go to my own crooked road and everything eases. I get a smile on my face again.

I walked a while on the road even when it would soon be dark. Darkness comes quickly in Zambia so it was not that long stretches I went. But the smells, the beautiful sky, the warmth, the friendly people excited shouts to me when they came walking or cycling, all kept inside me. Somewhere within many of us is a piece of Africa. I am happy and proud to be among them. Becoming a sponsor in Zambia is one of the best things I've done in my life. It has made my life richer, I get to experience so much and I may do some good and cause joy. Part of my heart is there in Zambia, forever.
